L’Àrea de Crítics de l’Hospital Universitari Vall d’Hebron està formada per un equip multidisciplinari de professionals especialitzats en l’atenció de pacients crítics, tant adults com pediàtrics, dins i fora de les unitats de cures intensives (UCI). Les unitats estan distribuïdes en diferents edificis del Campus: l’UCI de traumatologia i els semicrítics traumatològics a l’Hospital de Traumatologia, Rehabilitació i Cremats; l’UCI general i els semicrítics a l’Hospital General; i l’UCI pediàtrica a l’Hospital Infantil. Aquesta organització permet una atenció especialitzada i integral, garantint processos més àgils i eficaços per als pacients durant la seva estada a l’UCI.
L’equip de crítics lidera o participa en programes clau com la donació i trasplantament d’òrgans, el programa d’ECMO, l’atenció a aturades cardiorespiratòries i el tractament de patologies urgents com el codi politraumatisme, codi sèpsia i codi ictus. També col·labora en el transport de pacients crítics complexos, tant adults com pediàtrics. A més, impulsa projectes de seguretat com el trasllat segur de pacients i el passi conjunt, on tots els professionals es reuneixen per coordinar l’atenció diària. També es promou la humanització de l’atenció amb iniciatives com Bona Nit Vall d’Hebron. Gràcies a aquesta visió transversal i el treball en equip, l’Àrea de Crítics garanteix una atenció d’alta qualitat centrada en el pacient.
